Woman found naked says she was kidnapped, raped

A woman who told California Highway Patrol officers she had been kidnapped and sexually assaulted was found early Tuesday morning on an onramp to Highway 101 southbound at Seaward Avenue in Ventura, authorities said.

CHP officers found the woman, who is in her 20s, walking naked on the right side of the roadway at 4:37 a.m., said Officer Steve Reid, a spokesman for the department.

She told CHP officers she had been sexually assaulted in Los Angeles, and her attackers dropped her off on the freeway, Reid said.

The woman had visible injuries, but Reid would not release details because the Los Angeles Police Department is handling the case, he said. She was taken to the Ventura County Medical Center for treatment.

The LAPD was investigating and interviewing witnesses Tuesday afternoon, said Officer April Harding.

The department was not releasing further details about the case, she said.

Wow, I think I am more shocked with Alex's comments than with the story.

Poor girl. I hope, over time, she can put this behind her and lead as normal of a life as possible.

Pray if you have faith or send flowers if you're logical but do what it is that makes you feel better. I'll leave my religious beliefs out of this. Chastising somebody for their religious beliefs or lack thereof is non-productive and creates a combative environment.

Brilliant, bugmenot. Please, this is a news story, a very painful one at that, so whether we worship or not is irrelevant to the matter at hand. Somehow, I hear myself also asking that - where was God or the angels while this poor woman was being violated in a most sickening way? Don't tell me this is another test of faith, or a matter of free will. She neither willed it, nor did she deserve to undergo such a heinous and cruel test.

Were not remote controlled robots that can be snatched up by angels everytime we get in trouble. No matter what you want to admit or deny… like it or not… we have been granted freewill… and its my belief that we will be held accountable for what we do with it. It my opinion these punks that the LAPD wont describe will get their due.

This is the first news story posting that I came across "This comment was removed by the site staff", and three of them on one story at that.

I'll be interested in hearing the follow up on this story. I tend to think it's true, but just when I jump the gun to believe something outright, the story changes. In any event, I too hope she is alright, obviously something went wrong for her that night.

We have to trust in God, why He allows things, no one knows, but He wont abandon us, that we know for sure. This woman will never be the same, please, say a prayer for her, no ones knows the agony this causes, for the whole family.

Thank goodness the names of victims aren't released. This is such a tragic story. I hope she has a good support group to help her get through this terrible event.

dgreen, There is but one GOD......And my prayers are to him to be with her and help her during this terrible time. Give her peace and strength!!!! God Bless this woman........
There is nothing wrong with that is there????

It's called FREEDOM OF SPEECH last time I checked dgreen. If you don't like it why bother commenting.

YRMOM, I would hope if someone saw her. A passerby as you put it they would call 911. Me, personnally I would have stopped and slightly rolled down the window a bit and asked her if she needed help. Then after finding out what had happened taken her to the hospital ! But that is just me not everyone would stop.

Blessed, Your right! They took God out of the schools along with prayer and the pledge of alliegence. Which really upsets me !!!! Prayer is a choice. My nephew , had a prayer group and they always met on school grounds in the morning before school started and prayed ! Now they are trying to take God out of our court system. I thought we were one nation under God???? This world is going down hill and God is not happy with it .

Low amp--- God gave people free will to do whatever we want. He didn’t start any wars. People did. But I don’t think people can get away with the kind of crime commited in this article. I guess well have to wait and see.

First and foremost... My thoughts are with this poor woman and her family. May she find some peace and the ability to heal from this horrible attack.

And to all those that are offended about others mentioning "God" in their responses...

This is an open forum. Open to the world... hence the www... address. Stands for world wide web...just in case you forgot.

People are allowed to say "God", pray for other individuals, and the like. Who are you to tell these people to keep "God" to themselves?

Most of you that were offended, barely even spoke of the poor woman... you were much more concerned about what was written regarding "God"... what does that say about you? Compassion much?

Amen!!!!

This is so obvious that if a certain politically active religion had control over public schools then this crime victim would not have been dumped on the side of the freeway.

Next.

low_amps2, excellent comment!! I'll comment on the woman first BREATHOFLIFE. It is unfortunate what happened to her and that she is now out of her familiar surroundings of LA, assuming she's from the LA area. Hopefully she has the support of friends and family.

now on "GOD". If God was so great, why did he/she let this happen? Why am I in Iraq right now, the HOLY LAND, with so many warring factions of different religious group killing each other and US personnel? If God was here, this wouldn't happen so I think everyone needs to take responsibility for themselves, hold others accountable for their actions and I pledge allegiance to our flag but not as a nation under God. When God is by my side the next time I'm doing saving a life, then I'll believe in him.

I've already commented on the poor girl above. Haven't heard anything new concerning her though. On surfmedic91's comment on God.

He/She mentions that everyone needs to take responsibility for themselves and hold others accountable for their actions. That is some of what God teaches in the Bible. We are given freewill, freewill to dismiss this claim entirely, or to believe in those same teachings. Some just use these teachings to further their political and economical goals.

You are in a Hell hole opened up by Bush's greed for oil and for His need of revenge for his Daddy. The plan that is being played out at your very personnel expense, is one hatched by a bunch of incompetents, some of which, were around during the Vietnam War. They(The Far Out Right), used God to champion their cause. Those who sent you there care little about the consequences to you and your comrades than they do about saving face for a failed policy. Their plan is falling apart and the whole world is watching.

I believe God is there with you and your comrades, but I don't believe he is in the minds of those who sent you there, nor in the hearts of those you are fighting. I hope when you come back, that you think about getting into politics. We, that is the country, needs people like you, who know what real war is really like, not glory but broken dreams and broken people, and not allow us to hurry to war for lame reasons, lies, personal revenge and greed.

It is unfortunate that most of the comments here are centered around whether there is or is not a God and why this (rape) happened to this unfortunate girl.
It should not have happened. We do not know the circumstances and whether she was just unlucky or something she was unable to control. Being a victim of rape myself--I know. Sometimes bad things happen to good people. Blaming a Spiritual being is pointless and immature and reveals some ignorance as to things you do not understand and refuse to comprehend. I do not believe that young girl asked to be raped and then dumped in a foreign place. You (surfmedic91) in Iraq however asked to serve. Please do your best to hold up your part. Thinkingformyself reveals some underlying drivers. There is always cause and effect at work. What we all can do is help our fellow man, woman, or child and not shut out those in need. This poor girl was in need and NO ONE came to her aid.

Hey ThinkingForMySelf, no one sent me here. I volunteered to join the Army and I volunteered to come here to see for myself and get a break from all the ignorant protesters in Ventura. I would not give up what I'm doing right now (well, actually putting in my 3 cents on this article in my down time) for the sun and surf of Ventura after knowing and seeing everything I have experienced. I do it regardless of my non-beliefs or others beliefs in God, Allah, Jah, Jehovah, whatever.

Back on the article subject....This happens more than the news/media reports. Had this woman not been on the freeway, it may have never made the news. Her "attackers", there was more than one, say something of the crime. My guess is that they knew her and were trying to escape their crime by fleeing north. yodiejams, where does it say NO ONE came to her aid? Apparently someone did because she was found and taken to VCMC.

I hope they catch who ever did this, if indeed this turns out to be true. Goodness, the poor girl... The traumatic effect, not too mention if these idiots had any STDs.

Hey dgreen, I'm glad you have a good sense of humour.

Something surfmedic91 said caused me to recall a story about a girl who claimed to have been kidnapped, sexually abused repeatedly in a dungeon like place, being held there for months I think. No one believed her, until, another woman unrelated to this girl, claimed she experienced the same thing, and had escaped I believe, and was able to direct police to the site. Eventually, this got on one of those sorta news shows, chocked full of commercials.

There must be allot that goes on that we never hear about, for allot reasons. Sic.

Surfmedic, So sad. If you were in Irag as you state. I would hope that you believed if you were working on me. God gives man free will, for whatever reason we do not understand. But as long as he is in my heart and living within I know he is on my side. Not that nothing bad may never happen to me. If it does its because of man and thier evil ways............
Very Lowamps, God did not create war !! Read a bible please.
NO ONE and I mean NO ONE will tell me when I can pray to God and what I can believe. I pray for the loss souls out thier that do not know him. Your in for a rude awakening. When people are not allowed to pray in the Good ole USA and worship or tell others God be with them. Then it will be the end of the world as we know it. And no one will tell me when or when I can not say GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!!!!!
And Surfmedic alot of those care packages sent your way DONT they say GOD BLESS YOU ON THEM????

AnnaWhaat..I agree with your previous comment that they took God and the pledge of allegiance out of schools. That is very tragic. I'm not a religious person, but I sure remember being proud to say the pledge of allegiance or leading the class in the pledge. What a wonderful way of instilling pride and patriotism and BASIC MORAL VALUES. Maybe if these punks would have said the pledge a few times they would have thought twice before committing their crime!

Idepot, I think so also!

Wideopenweb, I will pray for you even you dont want me to. I wish you would attend church for awhile and read the bible then maybe you would understand more. Sometimes people are blind because they do not want to open thier eyes.

Wideopenweb or narrow viewed closed-minded? Your right, a complicated Bible and the confines of a church isn’t for folk like you… so instead… just step outside and try to believe that that spider spinning its web was taught that by its parents. Or deny how that bee instinctively decided to pollinate that flower. Until I can find a better answer to all the evidence working together around me besides a big bang or happenstance… In gonna stick to an intelligent designer… ak the Guy in your Bible you don’t read anymore.
