Morning Report: Man with knife robs Ventura gas station
Police and Fire: A man with a knife robbed a Ventura gas station early this morning, police reported.
Wearing a trench coat and prescription glasses, the robber entered the Chevron gas station at 7700 Telegraph Road at 3 a.m., brandished a knife and demanded money from the clerk, police said in a prepared statement.
The clerk ran out of the store, and the robber chased him but could not keep up.
After abandoning the pursuit, the robber returned to the gas station, ripped out the cash register and left the area with it.
The gas station clerk called police from a nearby grocery store, but the robber was gone by the time officers arrived on scene, police said.
Anyone with information about the crime is encouraged to call 339-4394 or to make an anonymous call to 385-TALK.
Traffic: At 7:15 a.m., an ambulance was responding to a traffic collision near the intersection of south Mountain Road and Balcom Canyon Road in Santa Paula, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.
Weather: The patchy clouds and fog in county skies this morning are expected to give way to mostly sunny conditions today, the National Weather Service reported. High temperatures in the 60s on the coast and in the 70s inland are predicted.
