Teachers and parents all over the world are looking for ways the Internet can help them educate kids.
One of the most interesting and often visited sites that is attracting thousands of classroom teachers as well as parents and kids as well is Funbrain at http://www.funbrain.com.
There's no denying that elementary schoolteachers are beset with quizzes they must create, administer and grade. Most teachers say that although these quizzes are necessary to check student progress, they take away valuable teaching time. Meanwhile, parents search for help boosting the education their children are receiving in the classroom.
The people at Funbrain have come up with an online solution. It's called QuizLab and can be reached from the Funbrain site or at http://www.quizlab.com. It contains a customizable inventory of thousands of pre-written quizzes in eight subject areas. Beyond offering these quizzes for students to take online, the software connected to the site grades them and sends performance reviews to teachers via e-mail. Teachers can try it for 30 days free of charge.
The quizzes were written by educators from across the United States and are in compliance with national curriculum standards. The quizzes are in four formats multiple choice, true or false, question-and-answer and short answer. The site also offers more than 30 interactive games illustrated with graphics, jokes and cartoon characters.
