Photography contest planned for local youths
The Ventura County 4-H and Junior Master Gardeners Program and the Ventura County Fairgrounds are sponsoring an agriculture-themed photography contest, "Kids, Cameras & Crops," for Ventura County youths.
The contest is divided into four categories: agriculture products, equipment, places and people. There are two age groups for the contest: 9-13 and 14-18.
"We are happy to give Ventura County youth the opportunity to look around, to focus on what makes our county great and share that with the community in a personal, artistic format," said Susan Gloekler, Ventura County 4-H program supervisor.
All entries will be included in a special photo gallery on the Ventura County Fair Web site and at a special reception and gallery show. Winners will be awarded prizes.
Their work will also be featured at the fair, Aug. 1-12.
Applications and contest rules are at the Ventura County Fair Web site, http://www.venturacountyfair.org; on the 4-H Web site, http://ceventura.ucdavis.edu and at the 4-H headquarters, 669 County Square Drive, Ventura.
Entries will be accepted through June 30.
