Man struck by car in Thousand Oaks dies
An 80-year-old Thousand Oaks man who was struck by a car on Friday died Saturday afternoon in a Thousand Oaks hospital.
Vikrama Panikkar was walking along the center divider on Olsen Road near Sunset Hills Boulevard at about 5:20 p.m. Friday and then started to cross the westbound lanes, according to Sgt. Tom Bennett of the Thousand Oaks Police Department. Donnie Sims, 54, of Thousand Oaks, was driving west on Olsen. He braked, but hit Panikkar when he suddenly turned and walked in front of the vehicle, Bennett said.
No charges have been filed. Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the collision, Bennett said.
Panikkar's injuries appeared to be scrapes and abrasions when he was transported and admitted to Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, according to police reports. However, his condition worsened and he died at about 2:50 p.m. Saturday.

Wow sounds like just a terrible accident. Why was this 80 year old man walking in the middle of the road? My prayers to his family......and to the man whom accidently hit him. He has to be suffering also.
