Morning Report: Firefighters free two after car wreck

Police and Fire: Ventura County firefighters this morning freed two people who were trapped in a car following a traffic wreck in Moorpark.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene of the accident near the intersection of Los Angeles Avenue and Miller Parkway at 6:06 a.m., the fire department reported.

Firefighters cut off the doors of a pickup truck involved in the crash to free a man and a woman who were trapped inside, said Deputy Nolan Stoyko.

Two people were transported to Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks and one person went to Simi Valley Hospital, Stoyko said.

None of accident victims appeared to have life threatening injuries, he said.

Eastbound lanes of Los Angeles Avenue near the Moorpark Marketplace shopping center after the accident. The lanes were open again about 7:30 a.m.

Traffic: At 6:52 a.m., the California Highway Patrol was reporting that a car spun out on Highway 101 northbound at Camarillo Springs Road in Camarillo.

At 6:15 a.m., an ambulance responded to a report of a motorcyclist down on Grimes Canyon Road at Rock Quarry in unincorporated area outside Fillmore, the CHP reported.

About 5:49 a.m., about 35 gallons of fuel spilled onto Highway 101 southbound at Johnson Drive in Ventura after an accident involving a big rig.

Weather: Morning low clouds and fog are expected to dissipate this afternoon and give way to sunny conditions with temperatures into the 70s on the coast and into the 80s inland.

At least they didn't say it was an "accident". What if someone did it on purpose?

Ever wonder why the sun sets in the west but when you are on the northbound 101 freeway the sun is directly in your face? The car compass says west, I fly airplanes and land this same direction but someone in Caltrans doesn't know their east from west or north from south.
