Business man pleads guilty in Haas case
Another businessman pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court to conspiring with Gene Haas, the owner of Haas Automation Inc, to masterminded a $20 million tax fraud scheme.
Robert Gene Cable, 75, of La Crescenta and the former owner of Enmark Aerospace, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to "impede, impair, obstruct and defeat" the Internal Revenue Service, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Cable will be sentenced on Jan. 28 and is facing a five-year sentence.
Haas is scheduled to go on trial on Sept. 18. He faces charges of conspiracy, subscribing to false tax returns and witness intimidation.
Federal officials said Cable admitted he participated in a false invoicing and payment scheme, which involved Enmark and Haas Automation, in 2000 and 2001.
Paperwork showed Enmark was receiving payments from Haas Automation for selling items that it never sold to Haas Automation.
Gene Haas personally negotiated the deal with Cable, agreeing to pay Cable a 2 percent kickback fee for swapping the checks.
In 2000 and 2001, Cable received more than $25 million in Haas Automation checks, returning 98 percent of this money to Haas.
Another defendant, Dennis Arthur Dupuis, 51, of Newbury Park, the former general manager of Haas Automation, pleaded guilty to conspiracy involving the tax fraud scheme. Dupuis is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan 14.
Two other defendants Charles Todd and Kenneth Greene also have pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing.

Is this still the USA?
You stated "Gene Haas personally negotiated the deal with Cable, agreeing to pay Cable a 2 percent kickback fee for swapping the checks."
Gene has not had his day in court. He is innocent until proven guilty. All these people who have pleaded guilty maybe quilty that does not make Gene guilty. It is obvious that they have struck a deal with the IRS. Otherwise, they would already have been sentenced. And the justice department is waiting for the outcome of Gene's trial before they sentence the others. I personnally believe that this was done behind Gene's back by the people who have pleaded quilty.

This makes me a Happy Tax Payer.
Some people think they are above the law.
This man is not the great man people say he is.
This is a man with no morals and treats people bad. I know this for I have worked with him in the past. He is a man who will do anything to get what he wants even if it is wrong or hurts others.
I hope he really thinks about all the bad things he has done in jail.
