Man pleads guilty in Haas fraud case

Another businessman has pleaded guilty in federal court to a conspiracy charge from an alleged $20 million tax fraud scheme involving Gene Haas and his Oxnard company, Haas Automation Inc.

Robert Gene Cable, 75, of La Crescenta the former owner of Enmark Aerospace pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of conspiracy to "impede, impair, obstruct and defeat" the Internal Revenue Service, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Cable will be sentenced Jan. 28 and is facing five years in prison.

Haas is scheduled to go on trial Sept. 18. He faces charges of conspiracy, subscribing to false tax returns, and witness intimidation.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Conte said Haas is facing up to 15 years in prison on three conspiracy counts alone if found guilty.

Haas has pleaded not guilty. His attorneys have said the tax issues "revolve around'' a former chief financial officer identified by prosecutors as the whistle-blower in the case.

Federal officials said Cable admitted he participated in a false invoicing and payment scheme that involved Enmark and Haas Automation in 2000-01. Paperwork showed Enmark was receiving payments from Haas Automation for items never sold to the company.

Gene Haas negotiated the deal with Cable, agreeing to pay a 2 percent kickback fee, prosecutors allege. Another defendant, Dennis Arthur Dupuis, 51, of Newbury Park, the former general manager of Haas Automation, also pleaded guilty to conspiracy. Dupuis is scheduled to be sentenced Jan 14. Two other defendants, Charles Todd and Kenneth Greene, also have pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing.

This makes me a Happy Tax Payer.
Some people think they are above the law.
This man is not the great man people say he is.
This is a man with no morals and treats people bad. I know this for I have worked with him in the past. He is a man who will do anything to get what he wants even if it is wrong or hurts others.
I hope he really thinks about all the bad things he has done in jail.
I know I will NOT send him cookies
