JUNIOR OLYMPICS

BIG SPRINGS WINS RELAY

At Royal High

Big Springs celebrated a victory in the Junior Olympics on Saturday. The competition featured 1,200 students from fourth to sixth-grade representing 21 elementary schools across Simi Valley. In the girls' fifth/sixth grade 6x67 meter-relay, Big Springs won the quarterfinal race to advance and win the championship coming from 5 yards behind in the last leg. The runners are Vanessa Miltner, Heidi Holmquist, Melissa Toczynski, Toni Chavez, Nicole La Fontaine and anchor Annie Toczynski.

SOFTBALL

THOUSAND OAKS HOSTS TOURNAMENT

The Thousand Oaks Girls Softball Association will host the 16th annual Memorial Weekend Tournament starting Friday and finishing Monday with championship games in eight divisions. Games will be played at Los Cerritos Middle School, Borchard Park in Newbury Park and the Thousand Oaks Community Center. The tournament will feature teams from Thousand Oaks, Westlake-Agoura, Simi Valley, Newbury Park, Los Alamitos, Camarillo, El Rio, Hart, Sylmar, Northridge, Torrance, Santa Paula and Bakersfield. DIAMONDS HOST TOURNAMENT

The SoCal Diamonds will host the 19th annual Tourney by the Sea on June . Divisions will be 14 and under, 16 and under, 18 and under and 18 Gold level. Entry fee is $400 per team with a four-game guarantee and pool play seeding into a single-elimination tournament. Games will be played at Camino Real Park. VENTURA COLLEGE CAMPS

Ventura College and softball coach Susan Johnson will host softball camps. General skills camps are June 18-21 and July 9-12 for all ages. Cost is $100 and camp meets from noon to 4 p.m. The offensive game is a specialty camp held June 25-28. Cost is $60 and the camp meets from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The total pitcher is a specialty camp held July 16-19. Beginners (one to two years experience) will meet from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and intermediates (two or more years experience) will meet from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Cost for the total pitcher is $60.
