Man arrested after police chase

Oxnard police said they arrested a 25-year-old man this week on suspicion of driving a stolen car and running from officers.

Police stopped a reported stolen vehicle driven by Anthony James Garcia of Oxnard at 10:10 p.m. Monday near Pleasant Valley Road and C Street, Sgt. Steve Moore said.

Garcia ran from police, but officers found him hiding under a trampoline in the backyard of a home in the 400 block of Canterbury Way about 10 minutes later, Moore said.

When Garcia would not come out of hiding or show his hands, a police dog was sent in after him, Moore said. When the man started to fight with the dog, police used Tasers to subdue him, Moore said.

Garcia was arrested and booked into Ventura County Jail. He is facing charges of driving a stolen vehicle, fleeing from police and being a felon in possession of a firearm, Moore said. The last charge relates to a handgun that police said they found in the stolen vehicle.

They would have to pay someone to report the stories. That would affect Scrip's bottom line. Remember the old days when newspapers fought to be first to report a story? Now the important thing is whether or not the company CEO can afford the biggest yacht. Face it, we live in a corporate world. Profits over people.

Political correctness will continue to rule, politicians will prostitute themselves and what must be done ... will not.

Even so, police officers, faced with increasingly overwhelming odds, will do what they are sworn to do ... and that is to protect and serve. And, yes, that means risking their lives each day to protect those who are in our country illegally.

Gang unit training was conducted in L.A. County recently. An instructor, one of the top gang experts in the state, noted that among the top causes of gang expansion in the U.S. is the exclusionary nature of family migration in that some ethnic groups tend to cluster in non-English speaking neighborhoods while families bring with them children who are already tied to gangs. That is not racist ... it is fact.

In Ventura County, a major contributor to an increasing crime rate and perpetuation of gangs within family groups is the Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation. Though touted as God's gift to the poor, their strategy creates projects, such as Cabrillo Village (El Campo), that are intended to be family-friendly but which are breeding grounds for gangs in that they are mostly exclusionary.

In Ventura's bird tract, mid-town, Montalvo and other areas the migratory pattern, and gradual forcing out of long time residents, is contributing to the expansion of gangs within the city.

RickRuby - I thought the same thing; that he'll probably file a lawsuit because of a surface wound caused by the dog and/or taser.

Pathetic really...

How funny. what if he was born in this country? could you still drop him off in the heart of Mexico? if so, better behave. you don't want the same to happen to you!

hey RickRuby,
I'm a Gonzalez and I won't running your wife or kids over anytime soon. As a matter of fact I'm a law abiding citizen. The hispanic poverty population is pretty high around and so the hispanic crime rate will be increased. You go to idaho or somewhere like that and you'll get a higher percentage of whites and crime rates from your smiths, jones' will increase also.

DeliaMoreno and Rick Ruby,

With more good people like you who stand up and speak the truth, we could actually make some headway on this accelerating problem. As for the PC people out there--that could stand for Pretty Crazy, not Politically Correct. State the truth and stand by it. Call an ace an ace and a spade a spade. If people don't like it, that's fine. Some people have always hated the truth, which means they may hate truth-tellers. Better to be a hated truth-teller rather than a loved lie-teller!

I agree with El Grande. I think that to throw the last names of Hispanics and Latinos as a generalization of the crime happening in our community is pathetic.
Also, Delia Moreno, I for one have voiced my concern(s) about the issues that burden our community, no matter what the color, culture or race involved.
BUT.
What I find to be irritating is that when a person makes a negative comment, it is always about that of another race and not of thier own. IE: The white folks (caucasian-for those who easily take offense)who are involed in the shooting of that military man , over a child custody issue. Did you see anyone throwing around " White- bread cracker eating Honky?"
NO. they didnt.
The major issue is that there is problems within our community and the only reason why hispanics take the front page is because, we are the majority. The same would be true if the local paper was read in Ireland. So to make negative comments and voice a negative opinion about a race, really shows no type of intellect.
The PEOPLE, in our community have issues that need to be resolved and noticed. Its the PEOPLE in our community that need to open thier ears and listen with out deafness, and to open thier eyes and see a vision that is not so blind.

To all of you, quit being so negative - thats all i hear from you all. The posts we all should be reading about is, "how can we end this nonsense". The leaders have all seemed to move up that grade.

HERE'S ANOTHER ARTICLE, PRETTY MUCH THE SAME EXCEPT THIS GUY I DON'T THINK CAN BE DROPPED OFF IN THE CENTER OF MEXICO.

The driver, Frank William Dripps, 41, allegedly refused to get out of his vehicle and sped off, Fitzpatrick said.

Officers followed Dripps up and down Yosemite Avenue, onto Highway 118 and then onto Kuehner Drive. The pursuit reached speeds of 90 miles per hour but mostly cruised near 50, Fitzpatrick said.
