Local players to play in China tournament
Thirteen players from Ventura County will be on the American team playing in the China four-nation tournament May 30 to June 3 at Lanzhou.
The players are Rinku Bhamber, Pat Cota, Jed Cunningham, Jonathan Ginolfi, Pat Harris, Shawn Hindy, Binh Hoang, Danny Jordan, Shawn Nakamura, Jeb Saez, Ramandeep Sandhu, Brian Schledorn and Jason Wellings. Nick Conway is the coach and Ben Maruquin of Ventura is a team manager.
China is ranked No. 18 internationally and will host the Olympics in 2008. The United States is ranked No. 27. Japan is No. 12 and Egypt No. 15. The United States lost to China 4-2 in 1996 in a World Cup qualifier preliminary tournament.

Next Level summer camp scheduled
The Next Level Basketball Camp is accepting applications for its coed youth camps. The camp dates are June 18-22 for grades 6-9 and July 9-13 for grades 2-5 at Ventura Missionary School.
The cost for the camp is $190 with sibling and group discounts available.
