CLASS dominates league finals

Members of CLASS Aquatics dominated the finals of the Marmonte and Tri-Valley league meets. In the Marmonte League, a Division II league that includes Westlake, Thousand Oaks, and Agoura, CLASS swimmers accounted for 100 of the 16 individual titles up for grabs. In the girls' 200 freestyle and 100 breast stroke, CLASS athletes made up six of the eight finalists in each event; in the 200 individual medley and 50 freestyle, half of the finalists came from CLASS. Several CLASS swimmers were finalists who helped the Westlake girls to their second straight league championship. Aislinn Smalling won the 200 and 50 freestyle, Jackie Brousseau won the 100 breast stroke and placed second in the 200 IM, Nora Darago placed second in the 100 breast stroke and third in the 200 freestyle, Marisa DeWames took second in the 50 free and third in the 100 freestyle, Cayley Smalling came in 6th in the 200 freestyle and eighth in the 100 butterfly, Lindsay Adler took seventh in the 50 freestyle, and Sugeera Eckley and Brooke Anderson finished sixth and seventh respectively, in the 100 breast stroke. Alex Henley from Thousand Oaks finished 1st in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke for second place Thousand Oaks. Other CLASS finalists on the girls side were Emily Arndt and Stephanie Pierson for Thousand Oaks, Sophia Dermoutz and Deanna Pickman for Calabasas, Beth Kaiser and Mariko Snyder for Agoura, and Amber Bennet for Moorpark. CLASS swimmers who made the consolation round included Alyssa Kent for Agoura, Jamie Lane and Emily Sarpolus for Moorpark, Emily Hucal for Royal, and Jessica Lacson for Thousand Oaks.

On the boys' side, five titles went to CLASS swimmers. For for place Thousand Oaks, Hank Yan won the 100 and 200 freestyles and Brendan Donahue won the 100 backstroke and placed fifth in 200 IM. Matt Kerchner won the 50 freestyle (second in the 100 freestyle) for Westlake and Michael Lorch won the 100 butterfly (third in the 200 freestyle) for Moorpark. Other CLASS finalists were: Vlad Beckerman (third in the 100 freestyle, second in the 200 freestyle) for Calabasas, Jonathan Hall (third in the 100 butterfly, fifth in the 50 freestyle) and David Russak (fifth in the 100 breast stroke, seventh in the 200 IM) for Agoura, Sevag Mehterian (eighth in the 100 breast stroke, 12th in the 100 butterfly) for Royal, and Sam Chen (fifth in the 100 breast stroke). In the boys consolation round, Kfir Magani placed for Calabasas.

In the Tri-Valley League, a Division III league that includes Oaks Christian, CLASS swimmers grabbed nine of 16 individual titles. For the girls, Oaks Christian's Allison Hall won the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly. Hayley Shillington won the 100 backstroke and the 50 freestyle and Erin Rosas won the 50 and 100 freestyle. Veronica Espino of La Reina finished second in the 100 butterfly and 200 IM. Bridgett Carney of La Reina took sixth in the 100 backstroke and eighth in the 100 freestyle.

On the boys side for first place Oaks Christian, Chase Bloch won the 200 and 50 freestyle while Kevin Nielsen won the 100 butterfly and placed second in the 100 backstroke. Michael Craft took second in the 200 freestyle and third in the 50 freestyle. Johnnie Pare placed fourth in the 50 freestyle and second in the 100 freestyle. Tyler Reardon finished fourth in the 100 backstroke and sixth in the 100 freestyle. T.J. Sollazo grabbed fifth in both the 50 and 100 freestyle.
