Conejo funeral home hires manager

Jim Wells of Ventura has joined Conejo Mountain Funeral Home & Memorial Park as funeral home manager.

Wells brings 24 years of experience in the funeral and memorial industry to Conejo Mountain. He has been a member of the Ventura County community for more than 30 years and has served as the pastor of two churches and later as a manager of a funeral home in Camarillo.

Senior Care owners win company awards

Home Instead Senior Care in Simi Valley, a provider of nonmedical home care and companionship to seniors, has recognized owners Don and Laurie Reid of Ventura County for outstanding performance.

The Reids received the Presidential and the Hallmark Awards for superior sales and service satisfaction at the company's international convention recently in Omaha, Neb.

With nearly 37,000 caregivers, including those in Ventura County, the Home Instead Senior Care franchise network provides services including meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands and shopping.

Housing developer wins state award

The Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation, a private, nonprofit community development corporation, won a 2007 Housing Hall of Fame Award from the California Housing Consortium, or CHC.

The CHC is a group of developers, lenders, representatives from state and local government agencies, housing professionals and specialists, investors, property managers and owners, residents and business leaders who are united in a nonpartisan effort to advance affordable housing and community development issues throughout California.

CEDC provides housing services in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. Since its incorporation in 1981, CEDC has built more than 1,000 units of affordable for-sale and multifamily rental housing, manages 440 affordable rental units, and has helped more than 250 families into homeownership through education, counseling, and lending services.
