VENTURA ADVANCES THREE DOUBLES TEAMS

At Southern California Regional Tournament

Highlights: Ventura — Doubles team Olivier Fabre-Chris Paish defeated fellow Pirates team of Diego Almeida-Bruno Azevedo 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to advance both teams to the state championships Thursday in Santa Cruz. The team of Colin Snow-Corey Sheehan also advanced despite a loss to Paish-Fabre in the semifinals. Fabre also qualified for the state championships in singles play. Ventura will travel to Palm Desert to face top-ranked College of the Desert in the Southern California Dual Team finals on Tuesday.

HIGH SCHOOL softball

OXNARD 4, RIO MESA 2

At Thousand Oaks Tournament, White Division championship game

Highlights: Oxnard — Tournament MVP Sabrina Ferguson launched a solo homer in the fourth. All-tournament selection Janai Shaw and Perscilla Garcia each went 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Records: Oxnard 17-8, Rio Mesa 13-13.

Westlake 3, Rosary 1

At Thousand Oaks Tournament

Highlights: Westlake — Sophomore Christine Magee pitched her first career no-hitter. Melissa Preish had a two-run double to highlight a three-run sixth inning. Caylin Campbell went 3 for 4.

Records: Westlake 9-14, Rosary 9-15.

OAK PARK 1, ST. BONAVENTURE 0;

OAK PARK 6, LA REINA 5

At Paraclete Tournament

Highlights: Oak Park — In the semifinals against St. Bonaventure, Jenny Liepman pitched the shutout with six strikeouts and two walks. Sarah Rosenburg scored the game's lone run in the first. In the championship against La Reina, Rosenburg and Amanda Cox each delivered RBI singles in the bottom of the seventh to rally back from a 5-4 deficit. Liepman and Breann Marlin each registered three hits.

Records: Oak Park 20-4, St. Bonaventure 11-9, La Reina 16-8.

HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

SIMI VALLEY 5, CHAMINADE 1

At Redondo Tournament

Highlights: Simi Valley — Nick Barnesse and Nick Russo each had a double and a single. Barnesse scored a run and Russo had a pair of RBIs. Drew Sandler (4-1) struck out three and didn't allow an earned run.

Records: Chaminade 16-10, Simi Valley 17-9-1.
