Wilson, part of Plame CIA affair, to speak
Former U.S. Ambassador Joseph Wilson will speak May 19 in Thousand Oaks as part of the Ventura County Speakers Series in conjunction with California Lutheran University's Master of Public Policy and Administration department.
Wilson and his wife, Valerie Plame, were at the center of a national controversy that began in 2003 when Plame's identity as a CIA agent was leaked to the media.
Wilson's speech is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Lundring Events Center, which is on the CLU campus in the new Gilbert Sports and Fitness Center on the north side of Olsen Road.
Admission is free and open to the public. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Wilson's speech will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the audience.
Wilson, who was an ambassador to African nations and Iraq, is author of the book "The Politics of Truth," which will be available to purchase.
The World Affairs Council of Ventura County will also be hosting a coffee reception, said Mary Pallant, organizer of the speaker series.
