Campus reports

Dos Caminos Elementary School

n Honorary service awards will be presented to four parents Thursday. They are: Juli DellaLibera, Laura Charmaa, Tami Velasquez and Kitty White.

n The first-grade play will be at 6 p.m. Friday.

n STAR testing concludes Friday. Students and staff will mark their testing conclusion with a luncheon provided by Panda Express. It will offer more than 600 meals as a donation to the school.

n Drinks are being collected for the luncheon. Please donate water or juice by Friday.

Open house is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 23. PTA will be serving a hot dog dinner at 6 p.m.

n Third-grade students are practicing for their upcoming speech contest.

El Descanso School

n May 18 wear everything crazy from socks to hats.

n Wear school colors or El Descanso T-shirt on Fridays.

n Popsicles are on sale Fridays after school.

Hardy Academy

n The academy is offering a free film and workshop for parents of children with learning difficulties from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 16 at 697 Mobil Ave., Camarillo. Reservations are required. For more information, call 389-8144.

n Students in grade school will take the Victorian era tour May 16 at the Stagecoach Inn in Newbury Park, fourth in a series of historical tours offered there.

Las Posas Elementary School

n All kindergarten classes will be hosting a Mother's Day Tea Thursday afternoon in the multipurpose room.

n The limousine lunch, for the top student sellers in the cookie dough fundraiser, is scheduled for Monday.

n Applebee's night will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. A percentage of the check will be donated to the PTC when presenting the Las Posas flier with payment. This will be the last restaurant fundraiser for the school year.

Las Colinas Middle School

n Spring dance is from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m. Thursday in the gym for sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders.

n Progress reports will be mailed Friday.

n Magic Mountain information will go home to the eighth-graders the week of May 14.

n Today there will be a parent education night on Internet safety.

n STAR testing continues through Friday.

n May 14-18 is staff appreciation week.

n Julia Heybl received the Award of Merit from the California State PTA Reflections Program for her visual arts entry. Her work will be displayed at the Reflections exhibit during the California State PTA Conference in Sacramento.

Los Altos Middle School

n Students of the Month and their families were honored May 4 in the school library. The following students were honored: Adam Niemann, Diego Ortega, Miguel Garcia, Lizely Aceves, Rebecca Willson, Lucero Robledo, Hugo Rangel, Eunice Oh, Cristopher Hernandez-Valles, Devante Abbott-Johnson, Juan Carlos Nares, Francisco Bruno, Deborah Martinez, Shelby Parrish, Raul Figueroa and Jonathan Sanchez.

El Camino Real Speech League's Championship Speech Tournament took place at Mirman School in Los Altos. In order to qualify for this highly competitive event, students had to win in any category from one of the three previous tournaments this year. Adam Niemann, Trenton Bland, Tanner Bland, and Kevin Rhodes all qualified to participate. Adam Niemann won fourth place in the thematic category.

n French and art students, parents and staff will tour the J. Paul Getty Museum Friday. Students have been busy studying the work of famous French artists and writing original fables in French. The field trip was made possible through a grant from the Pleasant Valley Education Foundation.

Los Primeros Structured School

n STAR testing and makeups continue through Friday for grade two through eight.

n There will be a steering committee-site council meeting at 3:20 p.m. today in the library.

n Cookie dough orders are scheduled to arrive May 17.

Monte Vista Middle School

n Counselor Gail Barrish was selected as Camarillo Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Month for April. Barrish received her award at an after-school reception at Wood Ranch restaurant. n Open house is at 6:30 p.m. May 16. The evening will feature a Chalk Painting Festival featuring the work of 60 top student artists. More than 300 pieces of art will also be on display in the multipurpose room. The band will perform the spring concert in the quad, and there will be an eighth-grade American History musical review plus classroom displays and refreshments.

The last family fun night of the school year will be held at Skating Plus from 6 to 9 p.m. May 24.

n Students of the Month for April were honored at a morning reception. They are Rachel Aghazadeh, Justin Bishop, Luciane deGreef, Lisa Doan, Europe Davis, John Dorr, Bobby Ferrer, Christine Flores, Claricia Hammer, Anyssa Holguin, Kacie Marczuk, Yesenia Ortega, Yliana Ortega, Gustavo Ortiz, Erwin Palma, Elena Roffel, Abigail Porter, Tyler Rybolt, Erin Soebbing, Blake Thomson and Josamie Verdier.

n Seventh-grader Mariah Powell placed first at the Zone level of the Optimist Club Oratorical Contest.

Santa Rosa Tech Magnet School

n The book fair continues through Thursday.

n Science camp is scheduled May 22-24.

n No school May 28 because of Memorial Day.

n Rotary track meet is May 29.

n Science Day is scheduled May 30.

n The third-grade speech tournament is set May 31.

St. Bonaventure High School

n The Calculus AP exam is today. Today is also the late registration deadline for the June SAT and subject tests.

n The English literature AP exam is Thursday.

n The US History AP exam is Friday.

n The Biology AP exam is Tuesday.

n There will be a Booster Club meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

n A service will be held May 18 to honor Brother Paulinas Horkan and Sister Josanne Furey for their years of dedication to Catholic education. The service will be at 7 p.m. For more information, call 648-6836.

n The drama production of "Annie Get Your Gun" opens at 7:30 p.m. today on the Our Lady of the Assumption Hall stage. Other shows are 7:30 p.m., are set Thursday, Saturday and May 17, 18 and 19. Tickets, available at the door, are $10 adults, $8 seniors and students. Tickets and more information are also available by calling the school, 648-6836.
