1 killed, 3 hurt in Piru crash
A Moorpark woman was killed Wednesday morning and three men were seriously injured when her sport utility vehicle crashed head-on with a truck in Piru, authorities said.
Beverly Ann Noel-Ewing, 47, was driving westbound on an undivided section of Highway 126 near Pacific Avenue at 8:52 a.m. when her vehicle drifted into an eastbound lane and collided with the pickup truck, said Officer Brandon Mumme of the California Highway Patrol.
Noel-Ewing was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:05 a.m., said Craig Stevens, senior deputy Ventura County medical examiner.
All three men in the truck were seriously injured, said Capt. Barry Parker of the Ventura County Fire Department. Firefighters had to extricate two of them.
The pickup's driver, Jose Saucedo, 27, of Anaheim, and passenger Marcelino Moreno, 19, of Santa Ana were taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia.
Ismael Carrera, 16, of Santa Ana was airlifted to Simi Valley Hospital.
All lanes of the highway were closed, and traffic was diverted to surface streets for several hours.
