Sick of reruns and reality shows? TV offers more than that this summer. Plus, there's another chance to catch cult shows that you may have missed the first time around, most notably "Friday Night Lights" (9 p.m. Sundays, NBC) and "Jericho" (9 p.m. Fridays beginning July 6, CBS).

Here are 10 series airing originals, some in progress, some about to debut:

"Big Love" (9 p.m. Mondays, HBO): Three wives + one husband lots of drama and some dark comedy, too.

"The Closer" (9 p.m. Mondays, TNT): America's favorite Southern-fried crime solver (Kyra Sedgwick) is back for new episodes of the cable hit.

"High School Musical 2" (8 p.m. Aug. 17, Disney Channel): Those singing and dancing teens spend the summer working at a country club, where they compete in a talent show.

"Mystery! Foyle's War Series IV" (9 p.m. Sundays, PBS): The World War II whodunit returns for four new episodes of sleuthing.

"On the Lot" (8 p.m. Tuesdays, Fox): The ratings stink and there's too much padding, but it's the perfect DVR show: Record the episodes and fast-forward to the short films made by aspiring filmmakers.

"Kyle XY" (8 p.m. Mondays, ABC Family): He's got no bellybutton, but he does have superhuman powers. This season, Kyle learns better how to use them.

"Rescue Me" (10 p.m. Wednesdays, FX): Denis Leary's problem-plagued firefighter fans more flames, both comedic and dramatic.

"TV Land Confidential" (10 p.m. Wednesdays starting July 11, TV Land): Original interviews with classic TV stars who offer the inside scoop on beloved series.

"Monk" (9 p.m. Fridays starting July 13, USA): The neurotic detective returns the same night as the guys from "Psych."

"Weeds" (10 p.m. Mondays starting Aug. 13, Showtime): The story of a pot-dealing suburban mom continues with Mary-Kate Olsen ("Full House") joining the cast as a girl who lives in a newly developed mega-church community.
