Morning Report: Traffic stop leads to weapons arrest

Police and Fire: A Santa Paula man Sunday night on suspicion of driving with a suspended driver's licenses and possession of a deadly weapon.

Santa Paula police said they pulled over a vehicle driven by Gilbert Bojorquez, 40, for a vehicle-code violation shortly after 11 p.m.

Police said Bojorquez was driving with a suspended license.

Police said they then searched the vehicle and found a sawed-off shotgun in back of the driver's seat.

Police also arrested Darlene Prado, 41, also of Santa Paula, on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine and narcotic paraphernalia.

Prado and Bojorquez were taken to Ventura County Jail.

Traffic: The California Highway Patrol reported a hit-and-run collision along northbound Highway 101 at the Seacliff exit north of Ventura at 6:43 a.m. No injuries were reported. The CHP also reported another traffic collision along the northbound 101 at the Connejo scales in Moorpark at 6:18 a.m. An ambulance was sent to that collision.

Weather: Patchy fog is expected along much of the Ventura County coast until about 11 a.m. Clouds are also expected throughout the county until mid morning. The rest of the day is expected to be mostly sunny with a high near 71. The National Weather Service also is forecasting a west to southwest wind of 5 to 9 mph today.

With a young mother and her little girl carjacked/kidnapped from the car wash on Cachuma and left near Wells and Nardo in Saticoy with no car keys after being robbed ... we have one more to get. How well did the Star cover this one?

Also, once again we have a shooting on Saticoy Avenue where it is bounded on both sides by nice neighborhoods. The source of the cancer is nearby Cabrillo Village whose residents refuse to cure themselves of the disease which is something only they can do. Lets see, the last shooting in the area was when the young pizza delivery person was shot in the face --- for the crime of stopping to ask directions.

Congrats to VPD for capturing a would-be bank robber in timely fashion. We have an awesome police department!

Based on the new gang graffiti that popped up in Ventura over the weekend, I'd recommend that trapping licenses be issued and bounties paid for the capture of the rabid animals who are doing the tagging. With these street gangsters in our neighborhoods, nobody is safe.
