Friends get in violent fight over bar tab

More from Local NewsAn argument among three friends over who would buy the next round of drinks at a Malibu Italian restaurant ended in a brawl Thursday that landed the men at the hospital.
Two men suffered stab wounds and the third had a broken shoulder in the brawl outside Spruzzo's in the 29500 block of Pacific Coast Highway, said Lt. Crystal Miranda of the Lost Hills Sheriff's Department.
During the argument about paying for drinks, Refugio Escobar Jr., 31, of Culver City, allegedly pulled out a utility knife and stabbed Higinio Avalos Larios, 35, of Malibu, in the left forearm, Miranda said. Larios' roommate, Adrian Alcontara, 37, of Malibu, then allegedly fought with Escobar and stabbed him in the stomach.
The brawlers stopped fighting and waited for ambulances and police after locals approached them, Miranda said.
The injured men were treated at Santa Monica Hospital and released.
Alcontara and Escobar were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
They are currently being held in the Los Angeles County jail in lieu of $30,000 bail.
