Park reopened after no more lions seen
A portion of Arroyo Verde Park in Ventura closed after a mountain lion sighting was reopened Monday, authorities said.
Park officials decided Monday to reopen the north end of the park and adjacent hiking trails, which were closed after a mountain lion was seen in the area June 8 and two other lions were seen the following two days.
City officials said no lions have been reported in the park since it was closed.

Man suspected of auto theft arrested
A Newbury Park resident was arrested Monday on suspicion of auto theft, the Ventura County Sheriff's Department reported.
Robert Watson, 37, was arrested about 8 a.m. in the 1200 block of Lawrence Drive in Newbury Park after driving off in a stolen vehicle, Capt. Tim Hagel said.
A deputy, who spotted the vehicle in the 2000 block of Lavery Court, stopped it and arrested Watson, authorities said.
