Cart accident kills CLU employee
A 59-year-old worker at California Lutheran University was killed early this afternoon after the utility cart he was driving hit a curb and overturned in a campus parking lot.
A preliminary investigation showed that Roger Curtis died from injuries he suffered in the 12:15 p.m. accident, according to Thousand Oaks police.
A resident of Simi Valley, Curtis worked as a paint and drywall expert at the Thousand Oaks campus, said Jannette Jauregui, a campus spokeswoman. Curtis had worked for CLU since July 1999, she said.
Cal OSHA is investigating the accident, according to police.
CLU President John Sladek was expected to make a statement on Curtis' death later today.

First off my thoughts and prayers are with the Curtis family. Golf carts and other similiar carts really need a hard look at for safety, you see these carts everywhere at the beach and other locations. I drive one myself at work as a Safety Technician. Recently a man died here in San Diego after his cart drove off the grass edge of a local golf course and he fell 75 feet to his death, many of these carts do not have seat belts and are completly open to hazards. Lets make everything we drive as safe as possible. Brandon Phillips
