Primm wins national title in boys' 800
Westlake High graduate Cory Primm won the boys' 800-meter title Saturday at the Nike Outdoor Championships at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C.
Primm used a personal-best time of 1 minute, 48.63 seconds to beat runner-up James Gilbreath of Bartlett, Tenn. Gilbreath was timed in 1:49.98.
The UCLA-bound Primm won his second straight CIF state 800 title earlier this month in Sacramento. He had the fastest boys' time in the nation for the event this year at 1:49.50.
Primm also won Division II section titles in the 800 and 1,600.
