Two men die after unrelated car wrecks
Two Ventura County men involved in separate traffic accidents this week died Thursday night.
Raymond Hayes, 71, was ejected from his vehicle while driving along Ventura Boulevard in Camarillo about 10:40 a.m. Tuesday.
The Camarillo man injured his head, neck and chest in the accident. He was taken to St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, where he died Thursday evening, according to the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office.
Felipe Bautista San Martin, 30, of Simi Valley, was pronounced brain dead Thursday evening, a day after a vehicle struck the bicycle he was riding.
Simi Valley police said San Martin was traveling north on Erringer Road shortly before midnight Wednesday when he rode through a red light at Royal Avenue. He was hit by an eastbound vehicle, police said.
San Martin was thrown from the bicycle. His head hit the vehicle's windshield.
San Martin was taken to Simi Valley Hospital, where he died.
Police said the vehicle's driver fled moments after the crash.
The driver is described as a man in his early 20s, possibly with a first name of Benito.
Police said the driver might live in Oxnard and run a landscaping business.
Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the Simi Valley Police Department at 583-6950.
