Funeral expenses fund set up for victim
Family and friends of a man killed in a traffic accident Sunday have set up a fund to help pay his funeral expenses.
Irvin Perez Carrillo, 18, was a passenger in a car that careened off Pleasant Valley Road near Fifth Street early Sunday morning.
Perez Carrillo was killed and three other people were injured after the driver lost control and the car flipped several times and landed upside down in a drainage ditch.
An account has been set up at Santa Barbara Bank & Trust to help the family with expenses.
Anyone wishing to donate can send money to Santa Barbara Bank & Trust, 789 S. Victoria Ave., Ventura CA 93003.
Donations should be directed to the Name on Account: Irvin Perez Carrillo Memorial Fund, Account No. 0101256568 and Routing No. 122220593.

CLU gets grant for Upward Bound
California Lutheran University has received a $1.67 million grant to fund its Upward Bound program for the next four years.
The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Education.
Upward Bound serves low-income high school students who often are the first in their families to attend college.
The students attend summer classes at the Thousand Oaks university and receive other academic support throughout the school year.
