Umpire arrested at softball game on molestation, lewd act charges
A 44-year-old Santa Paula man has been arrested on suspicion of committing a lewd act with a child and child molestation while umpiring a girl's softball game in Camarillo, authorities said today.
Stephen Darrick Turner is alleged to have molested four girls during the Camarillo Girls Softball All-Star Tournament at Camarillo High School on Saturday and Sunday, said Jerry Hernandez, a spokesman for the Ventura County Sheriff's Department. The girls participating in the tournament were 14 years of age and under.
Turner is alleged to have engaged in "inappropriate touching", over a two-day period starting on Saturday, Hernandez said.
Turner was taken to county jail where he remained on Thursday on bail of $170,000.
The victims were from San Clemente and Arroyo Grande, Hernandez said.
Turner has worked as an umpire for 10 years, Hernandez said.

Wow! Throught past experience, Camarillo girl's softball is serious, they go first class all the way. Most of these parents have one thing in mind "full ride University scholarships!" They have one of the best leagues in the County, this is very scarry. Umpires should be thoroughly checked out, maybe even character reference checks.
