Officials accuse woman of housing assistance scheme
A former Ventura resident was arrested on suspicion of grand theft this week after an investigation showed she fraudulently received $16,044 in housing assistance, according to the District Attorney's Office.
Rosalinda Robles, 40, is facing up to three years in prison if convicted of the charges, officials said. Her bail was set at $10,000 after her arrest in Oxnard.
An investigation indicated the boyfriend of Robles' daughter lived at Robles' former Flint Street residence in Ventura from September 2004 to February 2007.
The boyfriend was working and moved in shortly after being paroled from prison. Robles' other daughter also was working, the investigation found. Robles failed to report those two household incomes as required under a federal rent assistance program she received benefits from, according to officials.
If she had reported the additional income, it would have reduced the amount of financial assistance she received, officials said. Also, parolees are prohibited from living in publicly subsidized housing, officials said.

As with any assistance you have to report all the household income.......just as when drawing unemployment you have to report any income earned whether you were paid or not. Obviously she was in the wrong here.
She was the wrong drawing the assistance. As for the boyfriend of her daughter is past shouldn't matter as long as she reported he was living there and his income. Just my opinion......

Its good to see that the state is actually looking into where the money is going. Its people like Robles that make it hard for the honest person to get aid. Now maybe they should start looking at unemployment, disablity and med-cal.

There are many people here in Ventura County doing the same thing that Robles is doing. It is wrong for these people to take the hard earned money that we put into the system for the people who can't afford housing. I hope that this is one of many who we are going to hear about here in Ventura County. As with the ex-cons and sex offenders living with people who are getting assistance, these people know better as it is one of the first things that HUD housing and Section 8 tell you.
