Ventura County Sheriff's deputies were questioning five people Friday night in connection with a large fight at Solimar Beach that left one man hospitalized, Capt. Tom Convery said.
About 5:55 p.m., a fight broke out in the 2800 block of Solimar Beach Road, officials said. Witnesses told authorities that a bat was used and one person pulled out a knife.
When deputies arrived most of the people were gone. Officers then contacted local hospitals and told them to be on the lookout for any patients with wounds that may have come from a fight, Convery said.
About 6:25 p.m., Ventura County Medical Center personnel contacted deputies about a man who came in with a wound to his head.
Late Friday night, Convery said deputies were questioning the five people but no further information would be released until today.

OK Sheriff’s Department, this has been brewing for years. Since Oil Piers has lost its attraction the new Party Beach is Solimar. It's time to start Foot Patrolling the beach in plain clothes and write tickets to minors drinking on the beach! If this is done consistently the Punks and Drunks will no longer hangout there and the problem will be reduced. Anyone who receives a Minor in Possession citation should be banned from that beach for at least One Year by court order. Time for action!!!
