Swader earns All-America honors
Ojai's Kristen Swader, a sophomore at the California Maritime Academy State University, was named a third-team All-American.
Swader scored 80 goals for the first-year program in Vallejo. She was the high scorer in 18 of the 25 games and scored seven goals in a game three times. Swader earned Sierra Pacific Conference honors and was player of the week on March 5. She was the team's co-MVP.
"We are extremely fortunate to have Kristen as part of our program. She is a very hard worker and tremendously competitive. This is a well-deserved award for a student who made a total commitment to the program," said coach Timm Torchiana.
"We are a first-year team, and the fact that Kristen was able to earn this award is a testament to her ability and talent. She obviously made an impact with the coaches who vote for this award."
