Board OKs S. Paula development

Plans to build a 150-unit development in Santa Paula advanced Tuesday night after the Planning Commission voted 4-0 to recommend approval by the City Council.

The commission's recommendations included approving a tract map and conditional-use and development permits for the project, Plaza Amistad.

Commissioner Jesse Ornelas abstained from voting because of a conflict of interest.

The commission reconsidered the proposal Tuesday night after a decision last month to not vote on it.

Some issues had to be resolved, project manager Bernardo Perez said Wednesday.

Every issue was resolved, commission Chairman Gary Nasalroad said Wednesday.

The City Council could approve or reject the proposed development Aug. 6.

Plaza Amistad will be at 220 W. Santa Barbara St. on about 6.5 acres.

how about getting the upstairs apt. dwellers across the street from this new "projects" to clean-up their area by not putting bags of trash/recyclables/toys outside their upstairs windows?? If I were a potential buyer of a condo in this 'project', I'd think twice... thrice... about buying so close to unkept apts... just look further west down Santa Barb. St to Dean...
