Cody Ramer pitched a three-hitter as the Simi Youth Baseball League 13-year-old PONY All-Stars defeated Upland 10-0 to force a deciding game and then held on a for 6-3 victory over Upland in the West Zone championship game at Fullerton.
Simi will play Friday at 5:30 p.m. against Mexcio in the World Series at Chino Hills Community Park.
Reese Schmidt pitched 623 innings, striking out five, allowing three hits and two runs. Nick Vigo faced three batters, allowing a hit and a run.
Chad Aceronti cracked a two-run double in the third inning. Schmidt had two hits.
In the opening game, Blake Yuckert homered and doubled. Aceronti and Sean Houlihan hit doubes.
Simi was 6-1 n the West zone tournament and 20-2 overall, losing a game in the Section tournament.
El Rio All-Stars win: David Silva pitched 613 innings and allowed one earned run as the El Rio Senior League All-Stars captured a 4-2 victory over North Anaheim on Wednesday in an elimination game in the Southern California Tournament at San Juan Capistrano.
Silva surrendered a homer in the fifth inning and the El Rio defense turned two double plays. Frank Barroso closed out the victory by throwing three pitches, ending the game by inducing a double play.
El Rio plays another elimination game today at 6 p.m. against the loser of the San Carlo-El Monte game. San Carlo defeated El Rio 10-0 in the second game.
El Rio's Angel Hernandez drove in three runs with two doubles.
El Rio must win three more games to win the championship to advance to Western Regional Tournament in Beaverton, Ore.
, starting Sunday and running through Aug. 7. The West Region champion plays in the Senior League World Series Aug. 12-18 in Bangor, Maine.
