1,200 Edison customers lose power in Simi Valley outage
An underground cable connector failed Monday night in Simi Valley, cutting power to about 1,200 Southern California Edison customers, utility officials said Tuesday.
The four-hour outage began about 9 p.m. and affected Simi Valley residents in an area bordered by Los Angeles Avenue, Highway 118, West First Street and Wisteria Street, said Jane Brown, a regional spokeswoman for the energy company.
During the blackout, lights went on and off intermittently as crews searched for the malfunctioning cable, Brown said. The broken connector was located in the 2300 block of Erringer Road.
By 1 a.m. Tuesday, power was back on for all but 22 customers, Brown said. Those customers, all businesses in the 2300 block of Erringer, had power again by 7 a.m., she said.
