Limoneira to open an outreach facility
Information on potential real estate developments available
Limoneira Co. will open The Pavilion today as part of an outreach effort to educate Santa Paula residents about two potential developments and the company's historical links with the city.
The facility, which will be open from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. today, will serve as an information center and host events aimed at sparking discussions about the city's future, including possible Limoneira developments in East Areas One and Two — expansion areas for Santa Paula.
Up to 1,350 homes could be developed in East Area One, and a vote on whether to move the area within the city's growth boundaries is expected to occur in February. A commercial development, which would not require voter approval, could occur in East Area Two.
Limoneira has been in Santa Paula for nearly 115 years, and Harold Edwards, president and chief executive officer, says he believes it is critical to have credibility with the community. The center will help inform residents about the company's involvement and support for the city, he said.
Besides providing information about the history of Limoneira and Santa Paula, the renovated 3,000-square-foot facility at 55 Hallock Drive will also be a center where people can learn the history of Heritage Valley, which includes Fillmore, Piru and Santa Paula, Edwards said.
In addition, the facility will be available for the community and service organizations to use for meetings, he said.
The facility will be open during the summer from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays, he said.
The opening will include a ribbon-cutting, face painting and inflatable jumps for children, food and entertainment.
