VENTURA
Seminar will focus on eye procedures
The public is invited to learn more about the latest advances in cataract surgery and cosmetic eyelid surgery at a free seminar offered by Community Memorial Health System on July 31.
Drs. John Davidson and Daniel Ebroon will be guest speakers at the seminar, which will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. in the eighth-floor Nichols Auditorium at Community Memorial Hospital, 147 Brent St., Ventura.
Davidson will discuss a procedure designed to give patients a full range of vision and greatly reduce their reliance on glasses, and a laser process to control glaucoma. Ebroon will explain the risks, techniques and factors that make a patient a good candidate for cosmetic eyelid surgery.

Program deals with marketing to aging
The Ventura County Professional Women's Network will offer a program to help professionals deal with an aging population.
The program will be held from 5:30 to 8:45 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Wedgewood Banquet Center, 5880 Olivas Park Drive, Ventura.
Kathy Terry, a CSU Northridge graduate student in gerontology, will give a talk titled "Serving an Aging Population." Terry will discuss how marketing techniques must change as the population ages and how an older population will change products and services.

CAMARILLO
Program will teach first aid for pets
The Camarillo Health Care District will offer an interactive, video-driven class on first aid for pets.
The class will be held Aug. 11 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Camarillo Health Care District, 3639 E. Las Posas Road, Suite 117, Camarillo.
Participants will learn about approaching an injured animal, muscle and bone injuries, wound care, medical emergencies, common pet illnesses, and general information about dog and cat CPR.
John Camarena, a certified instructor, will have a pet mannequin available for training. The focus is on dogs and cats, however, the skills learned are applicable to similar-sized animals.
Class includes a pet first aid book, and each participant will receive a certificate of completion.
Fee is $48, or $45 for Camarillo and Somis residents. For information, call 388-1952, ext. 117.
