A "City Watch" program was just implemented by the City of Thousand Oaks Police Department.

City Watch is an exciting new program being brought to you by the Thousand Oaks Police Department. City Watch is designed to empower citizens within the community to detect and deter crime.

This is accomplished by the Police emailing real time detailed information to individual citizens about crimes that are occurring. The information provided will be of enough detail as to allow the citizen to identify possible suspects or suspect vehicles involved in crimes. City Watch will allow citizens to work individually with the Police Department to provide a crime-free environment in the City of Thousand Oaks.

City Watch’s goal is 50,000 citizens…
- Receiving real-time information directly from Police.
- Watching for crime and criminals.
- Identifying crime and criminals, and calling Police.
- Making sure criminals know they are being watched by many citizens who look forward to reporting criminal activity to the Police.
- Taking pride in their neighborhoods and deterring crime.

City Watchers also receive…
- Quarterly statistics about crimes occurring in their area.
- Updates on City Watch alerts.
- Crime prevention tips on Home Security.
- City Watchers Rewards System.

I recently signed up for this program myself, and am trying to spread the word to as many interested T.O. residents as I can.

To request to be a member of City Watch, provide your Name, Address, Telephone Number and Email Address to Senior Deputy Joe Evans of the Thousand Oaks Police Department at tocity.watch@ventura.org or 805-371-8362.
