Recruiting discussion, military film on tap

Veterans and the relatives of military personnel will be on hand tonight for a Ventura screening of the movie "Reveille! Reveille!" and a discussion about military recruiting.

The film chronicles Iraq Veterans Against the War and its earliest attempts to stop the war. It shows veterans protesting at the gates of the White House and features Dennis Kyne, Jeff Key, Jimmey Massey and other Iraq war veterans.

Guest speakers tonight include Kyne, a veteran, author, musician and founding member of Veterans for Peace Chapter 101 in the Bay Area.

Marcelia Guzman, who was attacked and raped while on night watch duty during Navy boot camp training, also will speak. Fernando Suarez del Solar, whose son was killed in Iraq, and Arlene Inouye, coordinator and founder of the Coalition Against Militarism in Our Schools, will speak, too.

The event is sponsored by Veterans for Peace Ventura Chapter 112, Unitarian Universalist Church of Ventura, Coalition Against Militarism in Our Schools, Brokenrope Foundation and Good Karma Public Relations. It starts at 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Ventura, 5654 Ralston St.

There will be a $10 suggested donation at the door. For more information, call 653-1588.
