Motorcyclist is killed in crash with SUV

More from Local NewsA Simi Valley man was killed Friday when his motorcycle collided with a sports utility vehicle, authorities said.
Russell Woodrow Coplin, 54, was pronounced dead at Simi Valley Hospital, according to the Simi Valley Police Department.
Coplin was driving his motorcycle west on Mayfair Street about 7:33 a.m. when he hit an SUV making a left turn from eastbound Mayfair onto Winthrop Court, police said. The SUV driver, a 56-year-old Simi Valley woman, was not injured.

What the story left out is how Russ was an active member of the community, a Y's man with the YMCA and volunteer to many things for Simi Valley. His death is a loss to the whole community.

Instead of "...when he hit an SUV making a left turn from eastbound Mayfair onto Winthrop Court..." it should read "...when the SUV driver made a left turn in front of the motorcycle rider who had the right of way..."

Seems to me from the description that the SUV driver was at fault. Will there be charges?
