Searchers locate body of missing diver, 64

The body of a missing diver was found Wednesday near Santa Cruz Island, Coast Guard officials reported.

Stewart Hindley, 64, of Glen Ellen was reported missing Tuesday morning while diving off the southeast coast of the island.

Several agencies joined in the search, which ended Wednesday morning when divers from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department located the body 80 feet underwater about 50 yards from where Hindley was last seen.

Sheriff's officials Wednesday were still investigating the cause of the incident, which they called an accident.
