Rio Mesa High sewer project to reroute traffic
Motorists will have to detour around Central Avenue just west of Rio Mesa High School for several weeks as workers connect the school to a sewer system.
The project was mandated by the state, which has banned septic systems in that area of El Rio, county officials said.
Kiwitts General Building was awarded the $487,000 contract to complete the project, which is being paid for by the Oxnard Union High School District.
The work on the road, a popular commuter alternative to Highway 101, began Sunday and will continue to Aug. 14.
