Residence: Has lived in Studio City since 1988. Lived in Ojai from 1984 to 1988.
Fame: Hollywood veteran with more than 200 credits on his resume in a 40-year acting career that began with a role on "My Three Sons" in 1967 at age 17.
Real current: Begley's eco-themed HGTV show "Living with Ed," based in his Studio City home, has been picked up for a second season with 13 episodes that will air Mondays at 10:30 p.m. starting Aug. 27; there's a sneak preview Aug. 26.
Up next: Will do a play at the NoHo Arts Center in North Hollywood about legendary farm labor leader Cesar Chavez. Titled "Cesar and Reuben," it will open Aug. 10 and run through Sept. 9.
Up next, part II: Finished a movie called "Pineapple Express," with Seth Rogen of "Knocked Up" and "The 40-year Old Virgin" fame, that is due out next year.
Of late: Had recurring roles on "Veronica Mars," "Arrested Development" and HBO's "Six Feet Under." Appeared in Christopher Guest's latest mockumentary, "For Your Consideration" (Begley also was in "A Mighty Wind" and "Best of Show").
Earlier days: Garnered six Emmy nominations and one Golden Globe nod for his role as Dr. Victor Ehrlich on the 1980s NBC hit show "St. Elsewhere." He still has a lab coat from the show.
Lineage: Son of Oscar-winning actor Ed Begley.
Home life: Married to actress Rachelle Carson. Ex-wife Ingrid Taylor (mother of two of his three children) died suddenly in Ventura last July.
Green membership: The Coalition for Clean Air, the Thoreau Institute, and the Environmental Media Association. Served two stints with the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, a state parklands agency that works to preserve land in Ventura and Los Angeles counties.
Hollywood membership: Is a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and serves on its Board of Governors.
One more green factoid: Has owned a wind turbine (to generate "green" power) out in the California desert since 1985.
