Diver's body found off island

The body of a missing diver was found this morning near Santa Cruz Island, Coast Guard officials reported.

Stewart Hindley, 64, of Glen Ellen was reported missing Tuesday morning while diving off the southeast coast of the island.

Several agencies joined in the search, which ended this morning when divers from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department located the body 80 feet under water and about 50 yards from where Hindley was last seen.

Authorities today were still investigating the cause of the incident, which they are calling an accident.
