Gas station clerk attacked, robbed

Authorities said two men attacked the attendant of a Ventura gas station early Tuesday morning and robbed the cash drawers at the business.

The attendant at USA Gas, 2661 E. Thompson Blvd., was leaving a public bathroom at the business about 3:45 a.m. when two young men attacked him, Ventura police said in a prepared statement.

One of the assailants hit him with a wooden broom handle, and both forced him back into the bathroom and took his keys, police reported.

The robbers used the keys to get into a locked office, where they found cash drawers, and made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

The attendant suffered minor injuries in the attack but refused medical attention.

Ventura police encouraged anyone with information about the crime to call 339-4394 or leave an anonymous tip at 385-TALK.

Anyone whose information leads to an arrest can receive a reward of up to $1,000.

what the hell is wrong with everybody??! you know if you got a job and worked you would have the $$ you needed and wouldn't have to pull crap like this. my goodness!

it's no excuse that this happened but i would be more selective when looking for a job. i mean at 3:45 am at a gas station you kind of got to expect something like this could happen. i really feel for the dude though.

to sog55, so should all gas stations be closed at midnight because of these robbers, I'm glad you can be selective about a job, not all people have that luxury. I work in a law firm in a busy city, if a person came in my office and tried to rob the office, oh that's right I should of been more selective and not work in a busy city?

I dont think Sog55 meant it like that, look at the statistics. Working at a gas station / mini-market that is open all night is like 100 times more likely to get robbed then another place of business. And Sog did say he felt for the dude. So he feels bad for him that it happened. That is why when my son was young and working at one I was very nervous with him working the graveyard shift.

thank you anna for having some common sense! eliscassino...how many law offices have you heard of being robbed? let's talk about real world situations here.lawyers tend to argue for the sake of arguement..but with that statement it doesn't sound like your an attorney.i'm sure a gas station attendant position doesn't pay any more than any other job like say a dishwasher or a fast food employee. i'm sure the qualifications don't vary too much between any of those positions so one with common sense would weigh their options and ask themself...hey do i want to work somewhere, where the likelyhood of me being robbed or attacked is greater than working somewhere else and for the same amount of money? thats being selective.
