Don't advertise with flag
In 1923, The National Flag Conference adopted a National Flag Code. In 1942, this code became Public Law 829.
Chapter 10 reads, "The flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever."
So, when I went out the door July Fourth, there were (as usual) hundreds of flags planted all over the neighborhood with advertising on them by local Realtors. They are all aware of the Flag Code (I have told them many times).
Am I the last man standing who cares?

Caring for life?
This sobering four-part editorial cartoon was in the June 23 Star:
First part shows President Bush announcing, "I cannot support the stem cell bill."
Second part shows him announcing, "My conscience will not allow it."
Third part, he says, "Our tax dollars will not be spent in a situation where life is destroyed."
Fourth part shows rows of flag-draped caskets from Iraq passing him by — and he is saying, "I believe in the sanctity of human life" — 104 soldiers died this past month, 28 this month.
— Mary Kovach, Camarillo
