Authorities try to identify body found at state beach
Ventura County medical examiners Monday were still attempting to identify a body found at Emma Wood State Beach in Ventura.
An autopsy was performed Monday afternoon, and officials said there were no signs of foul play.
Authorities said they were trying to confirm that an identification card — that of a 59-year-old woman recovered from a purse nearby — belonged to the deceased person.
The skeletal remains were mummified.
The body was found Sunday afternoon in a patch of poison oak near the park's group camp, about 100 yards west of the railroad tracks.
Ventura County Senior Deputy Medical Examiner Craig Stevens said the body likely had been there for at least three weeks and, shortly after arriving at the scene, he said he couldn't tell the gender, although the clothing appeared to be a woman's.
He said it wasn't clear if the purse and identification card were linked to the body.

Well I pray they find this womans family so they can have some sort of peace and lay thier loved one to rest.
Its just a shame that children were involved in finding the body. I can imagine the nightmares they must be having. Pray for them too !
