Cash register from S.P. business found on fire
The cash register from Danny's Meat Market in Santa Paula was on fire this weekend, and not because steaks were selling like hot cakes.
A Santa Paula police officer passing by a parking lot in the area of 12th Street and Orchard Street about 1:35 a.m. found the register in flames, said Lt. Mike Saviers.
Officers initially could not find a local business missing a cash register, but about 2 a.m. the police department received a report that someone had broken a window of Danny's at 974 East Main Street.
When officers arrived at the business, they found the cash register missing, Saviers said.
"Whoever broke in hauled the cash register away and set it on fire," he said.
Police on Monday had not identified a suspect in the burglary.
