Alleged gang member arrested

Oxnard police this morning said they arrested an alleged gang member Sunday on suspicion of possessing narcotics for sale.

Officers arrested Carlos Rene Hernandez, 25, at 6:05 p.m. Sunday after a plastic baggie with 14 grams of crystal methamphetamine fell from his pant leg during a probation search on the 400 block of West Bard Road in Oxnard, police said in a written statement.

After the arrest, officers found cocaine and cash in a safe in Hernandez's home, according to the statement.

Hernandez was booked into Ventura County Jail, where he was being held today in lieu of $115,000 bail.

He is facing felony charges of possessing controlled substances for sale and participating in a criminal street gang.

Our prisons are full of these kinds of pukes. Judges, as driven by the ACLU and various Latino advocacy groups are more concerned for the welfare of the prisoners than that of the citizens who choose a straight path.

In this case, either the death penalty or suspended animation might be appropriate. With cryo-prisons, we could maintain large prison populations in a relatively small amount of space. Square feet per prisoner and separation by gang affiliation would no longer be a concern. Instead of corrections officers, we'd need a small staff of technicians. Once a "cure" was found for these guys, we could thaw 'em out. Yeah, it might take a hundred years or so, but, so what?

Unfortunately he is probably already back on the streets... They never seem to stay in there long.

Good job, OldSchool. Keep up the good work, and thanks for stepping up! Documenting will definitely help in court. I really wish that authority/politicians would do more to get meth off the streets. That stuff is evil. Have you watched that show, 'Intervention?' People who cook that stuff up will definitely have bad karma come their way, sooner or later.

Hernandez is still in jail. Below is a summary of the record of Carlos Rene Hernandez, 05/30/1982, in Ventura County Superior Court. Because we'd probably overloade the web site if I included all, I'll provide details of only his FIRST known arrest in Ventura County. Chances are that he has a juvenile record that didn't pop up during my search. This guy drives regularly without a license or insurance, more for us to pick up, eh?

It looks to me like OPD is doing something about it. If OPD was "refusing" to do something then the guy would not have been arrested. OPD does a great job in this city.

surfriderjim, I agree with you. OPD is doing all possible to get these scum off of the streets.

The problem is with lawyers, be they procecution, defense or judicial. As you well know, police are accountable to everbody and all that they do is subject to public scrutiny. Lawyers, on the other hand, are accountable to nobody. Their excuse is always, "...what I did was legally correct."

A case with which I am too familiar, was where there was overwhelming evidence with which to convict a banger for extensive felony vandalism. I don't go into too many details, except to say that on a probation search, it was discovered that his own bedroom was tagged using the same moniker he used to sign his graffiti. His schoolbooks were plastered with the moniker. He was well known by his moniker. The Deputy DA asked if he had confessed and if there were any witnesses. Since the answer was no on both counts, they refused to prosecute.

The problem with protecting citizens, whether it be from violent criminals or the impact of illegal immigration ... is with the lawyers, not law enforcement.

OldSchool - are you an attorney?
