T.O. fitness club trainers dead in apparent murder-suicide

Two popular trainers at a Thousand Oaks fitness club died over the weekend in San Diego in what authorities say is an apparent murder-suicide.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the two as Harold Michael Kent, 54, and Lisa Walsh, 43.

Investigators suspect Kent shot Walsh and then turned the gun on himself, based on how their bodies were positioned.

Authorities could not provide a motive on Monday for the double shooting.

Police found Kent and Walsh in a seventh-story room at the San Diego Marriott Hotel about 8 p.m. Friday.

A guest at the hotel, located along San Diego’s waterfront on Harbor Drive, called authorities after hearing screams and gunshots in a nearby room about 7:45 p.m.

Walsh lived in Thousand Oaks and had worked at the Spectrum Club there for years, said Joe Jordan, a regional fitness manager for the club.

Kent also had worked for the club for some time, Jordan said.

Jordan said the two were in San Diego for a five-day convention. The IDEA World Fitness Convention was held at the hotel where Kent and Walsh were found.

The two apparently went to San Diego separately, Jordan said.

“I knew both of them very well,” said Jordan, adding the two were dedicated fitness trainers and were well liked at the club.

Walsh leaves behind three sons.

There was no information on Kent’s family or where he lived.

Michael Kent was my brother in law for 40 years. He leaves behind his Father, brothers, sister, and 3 children. He was a Grandfather to 3 beautiful children. He also leaves behind many neices, nephews and cousins.

Our family is trying to come to terms with this horrible tragedy and we are heartbroken. Mike will surely be missed by us all

I'm so sorry 2disturbed22, this is a horrible tragedy. Wonder what could have been so bad that he had to do this.. Whatever the reason may be, he's probably happier now.
My condolences to the family..

Lisa Walsh was one of my closest and dearest friends. There are just no words that can even near express the tremendous sorrow that I feel, and feel for her 3 sons, her family, and all of those who knew and loved her.
When I met Lisa 8 years ago, after we had just moved here, when she walked up to me and my boys (on the first day of school) with her beautiful smile and sincere kindness, she made us feel so welcome and comfortable. I knew then, that she was special. She was the most kind, generous and loving person, that is already missed terribly and has so many of us in such a state of unbearable sadness and grief. She was such an inspiration to me, and I'm sure to so many others. I feel so lucky, honored, and blessed to have had her in my life as such a dear friend. She loved and cherished her boys more than anything in the world. Our hearts and prayers are with you, Luke, Doug, and Thomas. We love you and know we are here for you, always.
God Bless,
Marcy, Ron, Ryan, Justin and Jordin

Mike saved my life on more then one occasion. And I know I'm not the only one. He was a lifesaver, I am living proof. I've never known of him refusing someone help who asked.

A kind gentle loving man. He was a man I looked up to, a man who could show you the light when in your darkest days could not believe there was any light left.

Thanks Mike, I love you. You will always be remembered with the greatest of love.
