Body found on Ventura beach

An unidentified body was found Sunday afternoon at Emma Wood State Beach in Ventura.

The skeletal remains were mummified. The body was found in a patch of poison oak near the park's group camp, about 100 yards west of railroad tracks. Ventura County Senior Deputy Medical Examiner Craig Stevens said the body had likely been there for at least three weeks.

The body was discovered about 5 p.m. by a man and his three daughters who were walking in the area, said Jordan League, a park aide. "They just came to me and said there was a body," he said.

Shortly after arriving at the scene, Stevens said the remains had been there long enough that he couldn't tell the gender. But the clothing on the body appeared to be a woman's.

He said a purse with identification was found, but it wasn't clear if those items were linked to the body.

How terrible for these children to see this body. I hope it doesn't effect them for life.
I hope they can identify the body so the family can rest in peace.

I'm curious to see how this woman died. Hopefully she was not murdered, but you never know what some crazy person will do.

What ever became of that girl found nude on Seaward after being dumped off by kidnappers, allegedly?

Also, have there been a missing persons for a woman over the last 3 weeks, if so I missed it.
