Three golfers tied for lead after first round
Wayne Merich, Jason Franklin and Ryan Sack each shot 73s Saturday to tie for the lead after the first round of the 22nd Oxnard City Golf Championship at River Ridge Golf Club.
Thirteen players are within three shots of the lead. Ben Carter, Michael Degreiff, Michael Flynn, Robert Zurawik and Ramie Sprinkling shot 74s as no player was able to break par in the championship flight.
The final round will be played today at River Ridge.
In the A Flight, Chris Pendergrast shot a 74 and Jason Lauterbach had a 75. Chuck DiNatale, Mike Johnnie and Brian Reed were tied for third after shooting 78s.
In the B Flight, Mark Salazar had a gross 74. Manuel Manzano had a 75 and Simon Kiddle finished with an 80.
In the C Flight, Eddie Williams has a gross 84. Dave Brooks and Bob Clough are tied at 85 for second.
Bob Magee leads the D Flight with a gross 84. Donald Wee is second at 86. George Perez is third at 87.
In the Senior Championship Flight (ages 50 and older), Jack Rector leads after a 3-under 72. Steven Ruh is second at 71.
In the Senior A Flight, Mike Bowers, Binom Galloway and Duane Koyamo share the lead with net 70s.
Bill Avery is the Senior B Flight leader with a 66. Richard Cobb is the Senior C leader with a net 69.
