Residents help detain robbery suspects in Ventura
Ventura residents on Wednesday helped police arrest two suspects in an attempted robbery, authorities said.
After responding to a report of two men beating a Ventura resident near the intersection of Peacock Avenue and Whippoorwill Street, police arrested Selvin Lopez, 34, of Camarillo, and Noah Galvan, 24, of Ventura, about 4:45 p.m.
The two men allegedly confronted the 40-year-old victim as he was walking alone, asked him for money, then attacked him and threatened him with a large dog as he tried to walk away, police said in a statement.
Local residents called police and detained the alleged attackers until officers arrived.
The victim suffered minor injuries to his face.
Lopez and Galvan were booked into Ventura County Jail. They are facing charges of attempted robbery.
